The Hunt For Canopy Bed Frames
If I have I choice in the matter, I have always preferred a canopy bed. Seeing a wrought iron bed makes me smile because I think of the one my parents had when I was small. It wasn't manufactured as a canopy bed frame, but it was big enough to support a canopy. When our parents weren't at home, we draped blankets over the top of the bed posts and played inside our tent. Hiding under the covers it was like a fort. Since then I have loved canopy beds. I can't get enough of that feeling of snuggling deep into my warm bed, covered and protected from all my worldly stresses and concerns.
You can choose between a wide array of bed frames for a canopy bed these days. Personally, my favorite type of bed frame is wrought iron. I love the heavy look and strength. While browsing stores, I often see wooden frames that are both high-quality and up-to-date in appearance. The great thing about wooden frames is that you can't hurt yourself on them as easily, they weigh less than other materials, and they are gentler on your floors. Wood bed frames will be more forgiving if you stumble and run into them in the middle of the night or while getting into or out of bed.
While you browse local stores for canopy bed frames, consider the height of the canopy as well as overall aesthetic appeal. Your ceiling's height and your personal likes or dislikes will mostly decide how high your canopy bed will be. Certain people desire a canopy to be as high up as it can possibly go. Others who are searching for a cozy bedroom experience prefer a canopy bed with a lower canopy. While I love most canopy beds, I don't like ones that have the canopy too low to the mattress. It can become very hot when there is a lack of air circulating inside the bed. This bothers some people more than others. If you want to find out if you like a tall or low canopy, then you should try several.
Antique canopy bed frames are as unique as you are, so look around for one you love. The craftsmanship and style of antique beds stand the test of time Some families have treasured furniture passed down through generations, such as wrought iron bed frames, and wooden bed frames. Beds from different historical periods can be purchased at your local antique store.
