Create A Website Without Errors Or Glitches

by Tem Balanco

Unless you are a loner who prefers to live in the dark ages, it is most likely that you have some form of online existence. It may be a personal website, a business website, a social networking profile, a chat user homepage, or an online journal of your daily activities. Although modern Internet technologies utilized by popular portals make it easier for non-technical users to create and maintain their cyber existence, it is always an advantage if you happen to know how to create a website.

In order to create a website, you don't have to have a degree in computer science. Also, you won't need a complex understanding of things like design theories or taxonomy. The skills you need are pretty simple. You should be smart, ambitious, and patient with yourself. Then, you'll be able to learn how to perform the simple tasks involved in website creation.

Conduct a preliminary analysis of your website's requirements and specialties. It is good to involve your friends in such analysis to get multiple opinions. They might be able to foresee a design or a technological challenge, which might go unnoticed otherwise. In addition, their involvement would speed things up for you. This will ensure that you created maximum value in minimum time.

The first thing you should do is to get yourself a starter's book on web design and learn it by heart. After doing that, get a free or "open source" web design software package and do little exercises over and over. Once you get good at this, create a "sandbox" for your new website. This means buying a small amount of server space try out different website designs.

The practice of mentoring is very valuable to learning almost any skill. Perhaps you have a friend who is experienced with developing web portals, and who can help you to create a website. Through mentoring, you will not have to make the same mistakes as your friend did when did developing his or her website.

During the design phase of the project, makes sure that you pay attention to details and don't just gloss over them. Look carefully at the design templates you're using and make any small changes that they might need to fit the content located on the pages of your site. This will make sure that there are no problems when visitors try to navigate between pages in your site.

These days, almost everyone has an online presence: personal, professional and journal web pages; websites for their businesses, their personal interest or almost anything else. The best way to take advantage of this is to know how to create a website. You do not need to be a computer engineer nor have a strong understanding of design theories and taxonomy to design a web site. Be sure to catalog the needs and specialties of your website. Buy a primer on web design and read it thoroughly. Then practice small tasks using an open source web design software package. Pay attention to detail, it will prevent many technical problems.
